I take a sensitive, thoughtful, and purposeful approach to psychotherapy.
My work is primarily grounded in strengths-based and psychodynamic perspectives, with a strong foundation in self-psychology. I collaborate closely with my clients to help them understand how formative experiences and current life stressors influence their thoughts, emotions, and perceptions today. I believe my clients are the true experts on themselves, and it’s within a safe, trusting, and collaborative therapeutic relationship that greater self-awareness can emerge. This awareness is key to helping you change patterns of thinking and behaving that may no longer serve your well-being or goals.
I enjoy working with a diverse range of adults (18+) including college and graduate students, new and expectant parents, and individuals navigating midlife and early senior years. Many of my clients come to me for support with mood and anxiety disorders, perinatal and postpartum mental health, grief and bereavement, coping with chronic or terminal illnesses, and exploring their racial, cultural, and ethnic identity.
Education & Background
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Augustana College, followed by a Master of Science degree in Molecular Biology from Northern Illinois University. After working in the pharmaceutical industry for four years, I decided to pursue my passion for helping others and earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Loyola University.
Before joining Mimi Landau, LCSW & Associates in 2018, I spent 16 years at Endeavor Health (formerly NorthShore University Health System), where I held various roles in both medical and psychiatric social work. During this time, I developed strong diagnostic and counseling skills while addressing the emotional and physical well-being of countless patients. The experience deepened my understanding of the intricate connection between mind and body and shaped the way I approach therapy today.
