I take an integrative approach to therapy, focusing on building upon the strengths of both individuals and families.
My style is eclectic, drawing from psychodynamic, relational, cognitive, and family systems perspectives. I believe we are all doing our best to navigate the complexities of life, and therapy can be a powerful tool to help you gain clarity about yourself and your circumstances. In our work together, you’ll increase your awareness, understanding, and acceptance of your patterns, your history, and yourself. I aim to help you develop a stronger sense of agency, empowerment, and freedom, so you can approach life with greater confidence and resilience.
When we work collaboratively in a trusting and deeply attuned relationship, I believe it opens the door to profound insight. This kind of understanding helps my clients feel more in tune with themselves and grounded in the way they navigate their lives. Ultimately, my goal is to help you reconnect with your true self and motivations, leading to greater satisfaction—whether personally, professionally, or academically—and a deeper sense of peace, even in the face of circumstances beyond your control.
I work with individuals across the lifespan, starting at age 18+. My clients often come to me for help with mood and anxiety disorders, relationship or marital struggles, contemplation of divorce, and major life transitions. I also specialize in helping clients with concerns related to both young and middle adulthood.
Education & Background
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Northwestern University and a Masters of Social Work degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Over the years, I have participated in various psychodynamically oriented study groups. I also completed the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy training through the EMDR Institute.
While in St. Louis, I had the unique opportunity to train at Kids In the Middle, an agency that specializes in supporting children and parents going through separation, divorce, and remarriage. It was the first of its kind in the U.S. and one of the few agencies dedicated to this work. This experience provided a solid foundation for my expertise in this area, allowing me to help many children, adolescents, and adults impacted by divorce.
Upon returning to Chicago, I was a psychotherapist Turning Point Behavioral Health Center in Skokie. I also worked for Evanston Northwestern Healthcare (now Endeavor Health) in various capacities as a psychiatric social worker. I continue to maintain an affiliation on their Professional Staff.
I’ve been in private practice since 2006. Since then, I’ve led support groups for women going through divorce at the Lilac Tree in Evanston, and have provided brief therapy to undergraduate and graduate students at Northwestern University's Counseling and Psychological Services.
