Kaitlyn Whitebread, LCPC
I am a dynamic and integrative clinician with a primary foundation in psychodynamic therapy.
I approach my work from a strengths-based and trauma-informed perspective, incorporating techniques such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and the 12-step model. My goal is to create a non-judgmental, authentic, and warm environment where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, build insight, and develop increased coping skills. I am a firm believer in the potential for change and growth, even during life's most challenging times.
While working in community mental health and college counseling settings, I developed a strong interest in helping clients who are experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse, complex trauma and acute stress, depression, anxiety, multicultural issues, and life transitions. I treat clients age 13+. Many clients seek my support for mild to acute anxiety and mood disorders, substance abuse, self-injury, parent/child struggles, and relationship difficulties.
Education & Background
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Performance from Ohio University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Northwestern University.
My service to the counseling and mental health profession has been multifaceted. I’ve held supervisory, clinical, and advocacy roles at Trilogy Behavioral Healthcare in Chicago, where my work focused on improving the quality of care and services for the agency’s clients and the broader community. Prior to joining Mimi Landau, LCSW & Associates, I transitioned into private practice, which I’m thrilled to make my full-time career.
